The accident occured in 2019 in Germany when a 68 year old driving an Audi RS6 was traveling late at night cruising at 300 km/h (186 mph). The elderly man misjudged how far a semi truck was in front of him and hit the rear left wheel of the truck. This caused the Audi to fly into the air and wrap around a light pole.

This crash happened becaue RS6 was speeding down the autobahn when a truck shifted into the left lane which is the fast lane at the Autobahn. RS6 ended up hitting the truck on the rear left corner because the driver didn't see the truck coming at all into the left lane.

Top speed is 305km/h.

Still, the RS6 Avant is based on Audi's regular A6 model, which we've heard no horror stories about, and because it uses a lot of proven tech from across the range, the RS6 shouldn't be unreliable. Euro NCAP hasn't crash tested the A6 estate, but the standard A6 saloon was awarded a five-star rating back in 2011.

The first race saw the R8 win, but it was close, and a second race saw the RS 6 do a better launch and start ahead, but eventually give way to the R8 towards the end for another close second-place finish at 10.9 seconds for the R8 to go a quarter-mile, and 11.2 seconds for the RS 6 to do the same.
